Network Design and Installation

Promedia provides comprehensive network design and implementation services.  Its team of highly experienced and certified engineers is capable of handling all aspects of enterprise network projects, from initial specification to implementation, testing and post-installation monitoring and review, as well as a range of managed services.  Promedia’s network specialists are trained to assess and design systems to meet the availability, security and reliability requirements of the user base.

Promedia’s broad spectrum of network services includes:

  • Network audits, assessments and documentation
  • Network infrastructure & build solutions, including WAN/LAN, wireless and IP telephony applications
  • Managed services (network monitoring)
  • Bandwidth assessment
  • Incident response

Private Fiber Networks

Promedia is a leading provider of private fiber networks to schools and governments in New Jersey. The networks are used to connect remote facilities through fiber optic cable, typically installed on utility poles. Promedia performs a return on investment analysis for a potential customer that incorporates the savings from voice, video and data costs, with most installations reflecting a breakeven point after three years. Promedia typically offers both a purchase and lease option to the client.

Digital and IP Voice Systems

As a premiere integrator of data networks, Promedia can help its customers benefit from the accelerating acceptance of internet telephony, and anticipates continued strong growth in this technology  Many organizations are realizing that maintaining separate voice and data networks is inefficient, and are therefore seeking the competitive advantage of converging network technology, in which voice, data and video is transmitted over the same IP network.  Promedia is an authorized Cisco Voice integrator, with all the required certifications, and employs several VoIP specialists.

Network Security

As privacy of data and disruptions caused by viruses and unauthorized access increase the concerns for IT system managers, Promedia is able to implement preventative measures and propose enhancements to the security of its clients’ networks.

Promedia is an authorized Cisco Security partner and is also certified by McAfee, SonicWALL and Sophos.  Promedia’s engineering staff has taken Ethical Hacking courses that have enhanced our ability to identify and repel intrusions from unauthorized users. In providing these services, Promedia often uses monitoring devices which detect unusual network traffic both internally and externally. Promedia will assess the network for data loss and theft, enabling Promedia to provide a solution that is both technically and financially responsible.

Premise Security Systems

Historically, security systems were operated as seperate entities with the images from closed circuit cameras fed to dedicated monitors.  Increasingly, such security systems are incorporated into the data networks.  With the surveillance of an organization migrating to the network, physical security implementations have become a responsibility of the Technology Departments.  Promedia realizes these new trends and will assess the need for alarms, cameras, monitors, access control and other security devices.  Promedia will oversee the integration of the physical security requirements into the current network.

Data Backup

Promedia works closely with manufacturers such as IBM, Dell, Rorke Data, HP and Apple to develop solutions for every size organization. Promedia provides a range of options to its clients, including Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Network (SAN), and Direct Attached Storage (DAS), as well as systems that incorporate a redundant array of independent drives (RAID) systems.

Promedia’s advantage is driven by its engineering capabilities in designing systems that appropriately assess current and projected storage requirements and incorporate the trade off between monitoring servers and potential loss of data due to faulty back-up. Once this analysis is complete, the engineers are able to design data storage and back-up systems that meet the customer’s requirements.

Wireless

The increasingly popular wireless one to one networks are a premier expertise for Promedia. These deployments, which until recently were limited to higher education, are evolving into numerous secondary and even elementary schools. Wireless one to one involves the distribution of laptops to a large number of users. These deployments are large and complex opportunities, driven by the number of users and the applications to be utilized on the laptops.   Promedia’s design process must provide for enforcement of computer security, internet filtering, perimeter devices, access to the network from home, storage, and an assessment of network requirements.  Promedia also provides the integration and design of wireless networks even when a one to one is not being deployed.  This type of work could include placement of wireless access points, a wireless controller system, and additional security precautions.

Microsoft Services

Promedia’s Microsoft Engineering team is made up of highly qualified engineers that are certified in various Microsoft specializations.  The Microsoft Engineers have a thorough understanding of Active Directory, group policies, backups, scripting, various types of email databases, workstation and server imaging, and file and web services.   Having these resources, Promedia can assure their clients that whether they are implementing a new technology or upgrading an existing environment, it will be an easy transition.

Technology is changing on a day-to-day basis.  In response to these trends the Microsoft team tracks new technology and products as they are introduced into the industry.  They are trained and certified in various types of hardware and software solutions such as blade technology, spam and content filtering, backup solutions and appliances, and anti-virus software.  Promedia can implement solutions that are tailored to each client's requirements and educate themselves on new technology as needed in a given situation.

Apple Services

Promedia’s Apple Engineering Services team is made up of qualified Apple Certified engineers that are prepared to help our clients with all aspects of the design, implementation and support of an Apple Network.  With expertise in system imaging, scripting, open directory, file services, web services, email, and collaboration services Promedia can help clients make the most of Apple OS X in any environment.

The majority of Promedia’s customers have both Apple and Windows environments and Promedia has had success in seamlessly integrating Apple OS X with Active Directory and Novell’s edirectory allowing users to move across platforms while still having single user access to all of their files on any client whether they are hosted on Windows, Novell or Apple servers.

When deploying software to 5 or 5000 systems Apple’s imaging tools can allow clients to rapidly deploy and easily manage your workstation configurations.  Promedia can help assist each step of the way: from building a master image, setting up an image deployment network, to implementing management tools to insure workstations have the updates they need. Promedia also has experience in deploying dual boot Apple and Windows workstations and deploying parallels and vmware environments.

In addition to supporting Apple client workstations Promedia engineers can help you design and implement low cost Apple-based server solutions for email, web hosting, sql servers, wiki, blog and instant messaging services that support both Windows and Apple users and integrate into your existing directory and server environment.

ProTecht Services

Promedia encourages clients to utilize its managed services offerings and has become an outsourcing destination for its clients’ IT functions. Promedia has developed a transparent, full-service program that replicates a client’s traditional IT functions, including memory upgrades, desktop installations, server migration and installation of software as well as new services such as patch management, network performance monitoring, intrusion detection and prevention, remote backup and storage, and spyware/adware detection and prevention.

Structured Cabling

The cable infrastructure is the foundation of a modern information system, designed to handle the current volume requirements, yet sufficiently flexible to accommodate the inevitable changes from enterprise restructuring. As voice, video and data have converged, there is little tolerance for faulty data cabling. In order to ensure that a network will run properly, the cable must be installed professionally, tested and labeled. By adhering to these principles, Promedia has been able to successfully build its Cabling Division.

The director of this division has over 25 years of experience and staffs the department with experienced technicians from IBEW locals 164, 400 and 456. This division provides structured cabling solutions for data, voice, security cameras, and intercom and access control. These services are run over a combination of fiber, copper and category 5, 5e, 6, coaxial and 18 gage cables. This fully equipped division provides consultation for IT directors, consultants and architects and is the vendor of choice for many schools, municipal courts, and state agencies. Promedia’s Cabling Division works with some high profile state agencies including the New Jersey State Police, the Meadowlands Complex and Monmouth Park.
